Sad News, Thanksgiving, and Woo Pig Sooie...

I know this post is way past due but I have been having some computer problems. It is difficult keeping up with two blogs when you are having computer problems. So I opted to keep my classroom blog going at least for a little while. I am sad to say though my computer officially crashed last weekend. I do not really know a whole lot about computers so I failed to back up all of my pictures and itunes. My wonderful Uncle Johnny is seeing if there is any way to salvage the hard drive long enough to get my pictures off of it. I am not going to hold my breath though it doesn't look good. I am unsure when I will be able to replace it so I'll only be able to update when I am at my parent's house.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I did. We are still extremely stuffed from all of the wonderful food. However, I want to send a note of thanks to Aunt Ruby for the wonderful dressing, Joyce for the awesome sweet potato casserole, Aunt Rose for the delicious banana nut cake. and Rick & Marcia for hosting such a fabulous Thanksgiving meal.

I am also thrilled and shocked to say that Arkansas beat LSU today 31 to 30. I was apprehensive about even watching the game today because I was afraid it was going to be really bad. I had to take Josh (my brother-in-law) to Russellville to pick up their new car and I missed the first half of the game. I am so thankful and relieved I did not miss the second half. I am so happy for Casey he had a wonderful last game. I am very proud of the HOGS they ended the season well and we kept the boot. Woooooo Pig Sooooie!!!!!!

The Leader of the Fam...

It's funny how something so small and adorable could be so demanding. It's really quite funny. My sister and I do not have any children yet so Chloe is the granddog. Big Momma (my mom) took this picture. She is definitly a Big Momma's girl. Big Momma carries her around and gives her treats and waits on her every need. My sister comes in a close second in Chloe's eyes. Chloe follows Hill around everytime they are together. She loves Big Dog (my dad) too. She would tell you that he can throw the ball better than anyone else in the family. She is definitely the leader of our family. She drives me nuts sometimes but life would be very boring and dull without her. She is going to the Pet Palace this weekend while we are at the wedding. She is going to be pampered while the rest of us are going to be running around like chickens with our heads cut off. I am not sure who has the better end of the deal. Only time will tell.

What a Mighty God We Serve...

The Lord never ceases to amaze me. Just when I think life is so crazy and hectic right now he shows me what is really important. The pastor at my church gave a wonderful sermon yesterday it was about T.I.M.E. (Treasuring Individual Moments Effectively). It really put things into perspective about what is important in life and what to treasure. One of the main points of the sermon was if you waste time; you waste life. It was very enlightening. I learned that it is truly important to not sweat the small stuff and just to focus on treasuring my relationship with the Lord instead of wasting time and life on situations that are completely out of my control.

Rain, Rain, Go Away....

It has rained for two solid days. It is a beautiful steady rain. However, do you have any idea how fun it is to entertain 20 seven and eight year olds who haven't been able to run out any of their energy. It's exhausting!!!!! I had recess duty today. It is is not fun entertaining 170 second graders full of energy and stuck inside for recess. We all survived and I didn't even have to use my teacher (I mean business) voice. I would call that a successful day. The rain is supposed to end tomorrow. I am holding out for outside recess on Friday. Here is a picture of my crazy wonderful class.

Gotta Love Them Hogs!!!!!!

I have waited for this day since the Cotton Bowl when Mizzou beat the Hogs. I thought today would never get here. I have had my attire picked out for over a week. Anyone who knows me knows that I NEVER preplan my clothing. My family was impressed. My dad and I arrived on campus at around 2:00 p.m. and set up our chairs in front of Razorback Road. We watched alot of fans entering the campus. Some tailgaters were set up across the street and had some really awesome Razorback music! If anyone out there knows how to purchase Razorback music please let me know. We walked over to Charlie's Chicken for our traditional game day meal. It was delicious. I was a little concerned about the outcome of tonight's game since Darren and Felix left. At first I had reason to be concerned but the Hogs pulled out the win at the last minute. The Hogs beat Western Illinois 28 to 24. Casey Dick had 300+ yards. He had a great game and I am glad he has his chance to shine. He deserves it. I took some pictures with Mom and Dad's camera but I have to take them to WalMart and have them put on a disc before I can post them. I was just too excited about the win to not post something about it.

I have survived the first three days but the week is not over yet...

Well I am excited to say I have survived the first three days. I have not had any angry parent notes and all of my students have gotten home the way they were supposed to. Anybody in education knows how rare that is. All in all I think I have a great class and this is going to be a great year!!! I am finally remembering to post pictures of my classroom. Sorry there are not very many my batteries went dead. Imagine that:)

I realize that technically summer is not officially over but for those of us who teach or attend public schools in Arkansas our school year begins tomorrow. Believe it or not I am ready. I am really excited about my class this year. I have heard really great things about my students. I have a good feeling that this is going to be a wonderful school year! I am ready to get it started. 7 Days

In exactly 7 days I 'm either going to be really happy or really sad. I have to go get fitted for my bridesmaids dress for my sister's wedding. I have been working really hard to lose some weight and I have lost some. However the closer we get to the wedding the more stressful it is and the more I eat. I am the classic "stress eater". This is a stressful time for me right now and all I want to do it eat. Please pray that all will go well next Thursday. The wedding is 5 weeks from tomorrow. YIKES!

Best Mom in the World!

I have the most amazing mother. She has totally been there for me this week. Our lives are totally crazy right now with my sister getting married in 5 1/2 weeks but she has taken the time to help me with my classroom. Today we finally finished it. Praise the Lord! Most of my family would label me as the Queen of Procrastination and as much as I hate to admit this they would be right. This is the first time in 5 years of teaching that I have been finished 4 days before Open House. None of this would have been possible without the help, love, and support from my wonderful mother. The Lord has truly blessed me with the Best Mom in the World!

Rain, What Rain?...

One of my favorite sayings is "If you do not like the weather in Arkansas wait around 5 minutes and it will change." This is so true. The local meterologist said we were going to have rain today. It was cloudy when I woke up but no rain. My mom and I went to work in my classroom and it started storming at my school. I live about 25 minutes from my school. My sister called and we had to stop what we were doing and run up to Fayetteville. It was still raining when we left school but when we got back to the house to change it looked like it hadn't even rained a drop. However when we got to Fayetteville it was raining. I live between my school and Fayetteville and it just astonishes me that there was so much rain all around us but not a drop at my house. You've got to love Arkansas weather.

The one great thing about today's weather is that the temperatures dropped drastically. We even got down to the 80's it was wonderful. This really helped out Bargains Galore on 64 which is a huge set up of yard sales that stretches from Van Buren to Conway. The weather was perfect for this today. Bargains Galore starts today and ends on Saturday.

Only 13 days left until another School Year begins...

I can't believe school is going to start in 13 days. It seems summers get shorter and shorter every year. I have to admit though I am ready for school to start. I am ready to meet my new students. I teach 2nd Grade, the kids are between the ages of 7-8, they are a blast. There is never a dull moment. I have learned that children this age do not have a filter. Which means whatever thought comes in their heads they say it outloud.

I am hoping to finish my classroom this week and have one more week of rest before the wild adventure of 2nd grade begins. I will take some pictures of my classroom when it is finished and post on the blog.

Hello, Blog World, Here I Come

I have been addicted to reading blogs for a long time. My sister has one and has encouraged me to start my own so here it goes. I am not sure how all this works but it will be fun figuring it all out. Now I have to figure out how to set everything up. Hope all goes well.
